ShareAsale com review – Does It Stack Up?

ShareAsale com review

I thought today I would talk about one of the largest affiliate networking Companies out there, so here is my ShareAsale com review.

The article will give a detailed review of the positives and negatives of this company to see if it delivers on its promises.

Share A Sale is one of the oldest affiliate network companies out there; it has been around for almost twenty years. They have nearly 4,000 products you can promote in any industry.

A Brief Overview on How a Network Works

Affiliate marketing is composed of three distinctive parts.

  • The publisher, you will be creating content such as reviews, courses, YouTube videos, and various other ways of promotion.
  • The merchant who wants to sell their product or service to a greater audience but need the services of a dedicated affiliate network to help them.
  • The Affiliate network works as the intermediately between the merchant and the publisher by bringing them together to create joint ventures.

The affiliate network has the resources to create high-value traffic links and provide the traffic software required for both parties to work together.

Has a Simple Sign Up Process

The sign-up process for the ShareASale affiliate is straightforward; it is a five-step process that takes about 5 minutes to complete. A lot of other platforms make you jump through hoops and give you a headache.

You must be over the age of eighteen and have a tax Identification, whether US or international.

Types of Commission Structures For Publishers

There are four types of earnings commission types in Share A Sale. They are

  • CPA – Commission earned per Approved Sale
  • CPC – Commission earned per valid Click
  • CPL – Commission earned per Approved Lead
  • CPM -Commission earned per one thousand Ad Impressions

4 Steps to Earn Money as a Publisher

1) Choose Your Niche

Once you have done your research and chosen your general niche, it is time to drill down again if you want to and focus sub-niche that particularly interests you.

Share A Sale has thousands of products in every type of niche, now do your research and find high-quality advertisers and see if the product and commission structure is what suits you.

2) Build Yourself a Website

You have your products sorted out, and your affiliate programs with the ShareASale links all sorted out and ready to go now it time to get yourself a website to send your traffic.

Now you have built your website; it is now time for you to put your stamp on this site and build a Blog following so that people will get to know who you are.

3) Get Visitors and Build Your Rankings

Now it is time to start writing high-quality articles that will resonate well with your audience, if you don’t produce quality, they won’t read.

When you start to build your website, you will have to put in the hard work with backlinking, quality SEO, and networking, but it won’t happen overnight.

But as long as you persist, you will gain a following, and Google will rank you easier.

4) Earn an Income

This is where Share A Sale come into their own with the range of advertisers that they have it is easy to find the products or services that will suit your niche.

Don’t get me wrong, affiliate marketing is excellent, but a lot of people fail along the way. This will be a long road, and you most probably won’t get any income coming in for maybe 4 – 6 months.

But as long as you produce regular quality content, the income will slowly start to increase as your website builds in authority, and more people visit your pages.

Have Multiple Websites? No Problems

What if you are an affiliate marketer who has multiple websites, and you want to utilize all of them on Share A Sale?

Once you are in your dashboard, go accounts/account settings, and then insert and save your various websites.

This makes it easy when you apply for a merchant program. If you join, then all your sites will activate for that program.

ShareAsale Personalised Link Customiser

Don’t you hate those Affiliate ID’S you have? They look damn well ugly as sin and are off-putting for visitors to your site who will be unwilling to click them.

Share A Sale has fixed the problem by having their own in house link customiser so you can clean up those ugly Affiliate links.

Regular Monthly Payments

Sometimes the biggest problems with smaller networks are regular payout dates or not paying out.

All payments are made on the 20th of every month. You can be directly paid to your bank account or paid by check.

(What’s a check? Didn’t even know they still existed) ? or alternately, you can be paid through Payoneer.

Cons of ShareAsale

They don’t utilise PayPal

This is a big minus against them as a lot of people don’t want their money going straight to their bank account, though this is a common trend through the large affiliate networking companies.

I did a little research into this and found that PayPal charges vendors 2.9% vs. Payoneer 1% or a maximum $10 charge. So, I can understand their side of it.

High Minimum Payout Threshold

The minimum that Share A Sale will payout for affiliates is $50; this is a higher threshold than the majority of its competitors.

This can make it hard for affiliates who are new to the scene. If you are a large market affiliate, this won’t be a problem.

No Automatic Program Deletion Notification

There is a common complaint out there that Share A Sale affiliates aren’t sent an automatic notification if an advertiser cancels his program; unfortunately, this is true.

But there are two ways around it. You can subscribe to their RSS feed to tell you when merchants are offline.

The second way is in your edit settings; you can do an offline redirect though I have never set one up.

The best way, though, is if you are on top of your programs, you will see that the merchant has been canceled and can take appropriate action.

Customer Support

The customer support for me because I live in Australia takes the phone call option out of the equation, they could cater a little more for the international clients.

The support FAQ could use a hell of a lot of work. It is a tiny little bar to type your search term into, and then it spits out some relevant articles that might help. But it would help if you had a microscope to read them.

Email support is about on par for most services, though they don’t answer on the weekend.

fivver affiliate program

My Overall Summary

My biggest problem is with the customer support interface; they need to bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

So overall, I found by going through the programs and applying to a few of them and using and setting up links for various programs, it is a good network.
